Welcome back to ClimateHope.US and our new segment, Joyful Climate News, also known as the Alma & Stephanie Show. The 6th Episode is live!
Episode 6 is our Earth Month Episode! It's been a while since Episode 5, and Alma and Stephanie are excited to catch up with each other again, and talk about all the joyful things happening as we celebrate Earth Month. Stephanie is excited about Spring Break, and Alma got to go to a work retreat in Monterey where right outside her window was a floating sea otter in the bay!
1. Hooray for the UN High Seas Treaty
Stephanie noted that Monterey Bay is a Marine Protected Area (MPA), a crucial element of ocean conservation. Alma shared that the United Nations just inked the High Seas Treaty another win for our oceans. But what is it?
"Secured earlier this month [March 2023] after almost 20 years of effort, it will be the first international law to offer some protection to the nearly two-thirds of the ocean that is beyond national control."
2. Attend Earth Day Marin
Attend Earth Day Marin on Sunday, April 24 and Join our Flash Mob at 1:30 p.m.!
A flash mob will take place as part of Alma's talk on the outdoor stage at 1:30 pm, and a dance lesson will be included, followed by a short participatory dance performance to be posted on our
